What
does JobTranz do?
JobTranz transfers large (and small) files
of any format to a JobTranz enabled server.
What
are the benefits of using JobTranz?
Reliability, increased productivity and customer satisfaction as well as reduced overhead.
Why
not use a web site-based system to send and receive files?
One word...RELIABILITY!
File transfers are often interrupted due to lost Internet connections,
database malfunctions or other reasons. Web site-based upload systems do not
accommodate interrupted file transfers except to require that the entire
upload be resent until a successful transfer has been completed. This results
in missed deadlines, high levels of customer dissatisfaction and general inefficiencies.
JobTranz automatically resumes the file transfer regardless of the reason of
interruption without losing the portion already sent. This feature is critical
with looming deadlines and large file transfers
Why
not use email to send and receive files?
Email has many major limitations when it comes to file
transferring. If you have ever tried to send a file
larger than a few MB's you know what we mean. More often
than not, the email will be sent back as undeliverable
because it exceeded file size restrictions.
Other email limitations include:
Security - while the email is in transit, it can be
intercepted by hackers or wrongdoers
No Progress Notification - there is no progress bar
during the transfer so you never know how far along the
transfer is.
No Multiple Simultaneous Transfers - if you want to
send different sets of files to different locations (or same),
you have to wait for the first email to send, then the second
email to send, etc.
Not Interruption Proof - if your email program, network
or computer should crash you have to start your transfer
over from the beginning.
Why
not use FTP to send and receive files?
FTP is not designed for novice computer users and can
be difficult to use and configure, even for the more
experienced computer user. FTP also requires a great deal of
administration to install FTP client software and manage
files on the FTP server.
Additionally, FTP does not allow the Sender
to provide notes for the project in one easy to read
administration panel.
How
do I sign up for JobTranz?
Visit the "Purchase Options" page and pick
a plan that best suits your needs. If you need help, contact

If you are a designer, or someone who regularly needs
to send files to your service provider (print
firm, video production house, graphics house etc) the
JobTranz client-side Sender application is a FREE download.
The only requirement is that the person you are sending
the file to must have a JobTranz enabled server.
Can
I try JobTranz for free?
Yes. Simply download the FREE client-side Sender application
and send a file to our JobTranz demo server. Please
limit your upload to 1MB or less.

What
kind of files can I transfer with JobTranz?
JobTranz can send and receive files of any type. Our
only recommendation is that you use a program like Stuffit
or WinZip to compress the files into a folder. Doing
so makes it even easier for your service provider to
download the files properly.
Does
the sender have to sign up for JobTranz?
No. The sender simply needs to download the FREE client-side
Sender application from their provider's web site or
from the JobTranz web site. If your provider has JobTranz,
we recommend you download the client-side Sender application
from their web site because the "Send To"
field will automatically populate with your service
providers address.
Version 2 of the JobTranz client-side Sender application
will include an address book feature that will store
all of the service providers you work with that have
a JobTranz enabled server.
Does
the receiver have to sign up for JobTranz?
Yes. In order to receive files, the recipient must purchase
a JobTranz license or select our hosted solution. This
is the only way to gain access to an administration
panel to download the files.

How
do I send a file?
Sending a file via JobTranz is as easy as sending an
email. Simply launch the JobTranz application from your
desktop. Click on the "New" button. Enter
the name of the transfer destination, then your name
and/or company name, and any necessary comments about
the project. Click on "Choose File" and locate
the file you wish to upload. Click"OK" to
begin the transfer.
How long
will it take for my files to transfer?
The file transfer time will depend
on the speed of your Internet connection. Once the files
are received by a JobTranz enabled server, they are
available immediately for download by the receiver.
Service providers will be able to download the files
at the maximum speed available on their network (in
house solution) or Internet connection (hosted solution).
How do I
know the status of my transfer?
As your file(s) are transferring you can see the status
via the progress bar and active status alert. The progress bar starts at 0% and works its
way to 100%. You are given a percentage and a visual
graphic of the status during each transfer. When the progress bar is solid
red and reads "100%", it will switch over to read "Complete".
At this point you will be sent an email confirmation
and can rest assured that your files are on your service
providers server.
And don't forget... if your network or computer crashes during
a file transfer, simply turn JobTranz back on and it
will pick up where it left off with no loss of the portion already sent.
Once I have sent my files, how long
will they be available for download?
Once your files are on your service providers JobTranz
enabled server, they are available for download as long
as they are on the server.
Service providers, keep an eye on your storage quota
if you keep large files on the server.
Can I send
more than one file at a time?
Yes. JobTranz allows you to send up to eight sets of files
to eight different (or same) locations simultaneously, not one after
the other like other electronic methods. Also, each
transfer will display a progress bar. Great for multi-tasking
deadlines!
Can I send different
sets of files to different destinations at the same
time?
Yes. If you have to send different projects to different
JobTranz enabled service providers you can do so by
following the same process as setting up your first
transfer.You can send eight different files to eight different
destinations at a maximum of 4GB each. That's 32GB of
transfer at one time!
Can I cancel
a file during transfer if I change my mind?
Yes. You can cancel a transfer before it has been completely
uploaded. Simply click on the transfer you wish to cancel,
it will highlight blue, then select "Cancel"
from the JobTranz menu.
What is
the maximum files size I can send?
4GB per transfer, up to eight transfers at a time totaling
32GB at one time.
Is there
a limit to how many files I can send?
Yes and No. You can send up to 8 files at one time,
but there is no limit to how many you can send daily,
weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly (you get the point).

do I receive a file?
First, you must have a JobTranz enabled server to receive
files. You can choose a plan from our "Purchase Options"
page (coming soon). Once you have purchased your copy
of JobTranz we will set up your private administration
panel and issue you a username and password. We also give
you an html page to put on your web site so your clients
can download the client-side Sender application and instructions
for free. All your client has to do now is follow the
"send to" directions and you are ready to go.
How
many files can I accept?
The number of files you can accept depends on the amount
of storage your server has set aside for JobTranz or the
hosting option you chose with your JobTranz hosted solution.
You can see the amount of storage space you are using
at any time at the top of the front page of the JobTranz
administration panel.
If you are regularly at your storage limit, it may be
time for an upgrade. What
happens when I run out of storage?
The sender will receive a message saying the server is
full, BUT, they will not have to cancel their download.
JobTranz will standby for up to 4 days until your server
has cleared up some space and then begin the transmission.
How long will the file remain
on the server?
As long as you keep them there.
How do I download a file from
JobTranz?
Simply log onto your administration panel, find the project
you want to download via client name or company name or
project date etc, and click download. |
